DIPLOMA BOOKLET

All young people have a right to an education, irrespective of their gender, race, physical challenge or a need for learning support. In keeping with our mission “learning through diversity”, the IS Hilversum makes provision for students with mild learning challenges or physical disabilities. For more details please see the school’s inclusion policy, which applies across the continuum, available on the parents' section of the school website www.ishilversum.nl

Our student population includes students with diverse indications and conditions, forming barriers to their learning. These can include:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Mild autism and related conditions
  • Dyslexia/dyscalculia
  • Communication and /or language disorders
  • Second language learning barriers
  • Social and emotional support needs.

The Diploma coordinator, together with the inclusion team and the IB organisation, agree as to the extent of the provisions that can be made for a student doing the Diploma Progamme at school. For example, the provision of extra time during summative assessments, the use of a laptop or enlarged texts in exams and many more options according to the needs of the student.
